Image of the month: No. 2006 Wolf of Badenoch

The final Gresley class P2 No. 2006 Wolf of Badenoch entered traffic on 5 September 1936. Fitted with a different boiler design to the previous five class P2s with a longer combustion chamber, No. 2006 was initially allocated to Haymarket shed before moving to Aberdeen shed on 16 November 1936 and back to Haymarket on 23 October 1942.

The locomotive was withdrawn for rebuilding into a Thompson class A2/2 at Doncaster Works on 28 January 1944. Returning to traffic on 15 April 1944, No. 2006 was shedded at Haymarket, Aberdeen Ferryhill and New England before withdrawal on 4 April 1961 and cut-up at Doncaster Works. The locomotive was renumbered to No. 506 (30 June 1946) and No. 60506 (18 December 1948).
