Buffet Lounge Car No 1852 was one of only two such vehicles built in 1938 at Doncaster Works for the new ‘Flying Scotsman’ train, and even featured pressure ventilation. It was purchased for preservation in 1966 by the Gresley Society and is currently stored on the farm of the Society’s President John Cameron at Balbuthie in Fife, Scotland awaiting restoration, which is subject to a Heritage Fund application.
